Contents of the theory test
There are two parts to the theory test - a set of multiple choice questions and a hazard perception test.
The most important publication you will need is the Highway Code (incorporating the 2007 revisions). In addition, there are publications in a variety of media that may help. At the moment the DSA makes the full theory test question bank available, so you can buy publications containing all possible questions and answers.
With the hazard perception test it is best to obtain one of the DVDs that are available to practice this. As well as being able to spot the hazards you also need to learn how to 'play the game'.
Learning materials can be bought on the high street at places such as WH Smith or online at the likes of Amazon. The official online bookshop can be found at:

Theory tests can be taken at Oxford or Milton Keynes - unfortunately there is not a theory test centre at Aylesbury.

Don't leave it to long before taking the theory test - it will
help your practical driving lessons and, when the time is right, it
will not
get in the way of booking the practical test.
